Rude T Shirts

From LoveToKnow Men's Fashion

Rude t-shirts are particularly expressive tools for making statements. They're often bright, highly opinionated and can cause quite a ruckus if someone happens to disagree with their sentiments. They're called "rude" for a reason, after all!

Know when to wear that offensive shirt!

Express Yourself

Saying what you're really thinking is sometimes a bad idea – particularly if what you're thinking is in any way controversial, has the potential to hurt someone's feelings or is simply inappropriate. There's a time and a place for everything, and some things just shouldn't be said out loud. There are those who will speak their mind regardless, of course, and then there are those who choose to wear their hearts on their sleeves – or as the case might otherwise be, on their t-shirts.

Expressive t-shirts run the gamut from funny to rude. Often, they're influenced by popular culture or a current event in the entertainment or political world, and they can showcase subtle or in-your-face in their sentiments. The rudest t-shirts are the ones that hold nothing back – there might be some derogatory language, a particularly suggestive catchphrase, a potentially offensive graphic or some combination of these things involved. Needless to say, it takes a brazen individual to wear a shirt like this, and it's usually a person who doesn't mind turning a few heads or getting into some heated discussions from time to time.

When to Wear Them

You've got yourself a great rude t-shirt and you can't wait to show it off. As mentioned, there is a time and a place for clothing like this. Casual environments are best – you can of course wear your t-shirt anywhere that casual dress is appropriate, such as a shopping mall, park or coffee shop.

If offending others is a concern, though, or you are simply unsure about wearing it to such a public place, opt for an environment where individuals who know you (and your sense of humor!) are present. Parties with the guys or football games on lazy Sunday afternoons are both great options.

When Not to Wear Rude T-Shirts

It might be obvious, but it's worth stating: in certain situations, you should avoid wearing your rude t-shirts. There's a good reason for this. You don't want to risk offending anyone, and some environments have strict dress codes. Break a dress code and you'll likely be escorted out of the building. Avoid rude t-shirts when:

  • You're on a first, second or third (or even fourth!) date. Once your partner gets to know you much better, you might be able to break out the offensive t-shirts every now and then. For those early days, though, it's much better to stick with something clean cut and polished. Presenting your best self and making a great impression is important, after all.
  • You're headed to a job interview. This is a no brainer, but it wouldn't be the first time in history that inappropriate attire has been worn to an interview. Always wear a suit to a job interview unless it is explicitly not necessary – and even in those cases, it's better to dress business-casual than completely casual and dressed down!
  • You're attending an important meeting. Whether the meeting takes place in a casual setting or not makes no difference. Again, it's about making a great impression, and you definitely want to wear something that exudes confidence and class.
  • You're around children. Maybe you're watching your own or someone else's kids. If they're able to read, chances are they'll ask questions – and that's probably not a discussion you'll enjoy being a part of!
